"Branding" is the process of creating a company's identity that is consistent along all mediums of communication: press releases, newsletters, interviews, sales pitches, logo, website, headshot...

Conventional Branding vs Organic Branding:

The conventional method for branding includes creating an image that focuses first on targeting a particular market (or none at all, or any market that will buy) and then conforming one's identity to the perceived buying habits of that market. This mode of branding focuses solely on the bottom line: How do I need to look and what do I need to say in order to make the most money?

And while there's absolutely nothing wrong with fattening your bottom line, the last thing you want is to have an identity that looks chubby in low-rise jeans.

Moral of the story: first, get to know a little about your physique-personality-style, become comfortable and confident in that skin, and then target the market(s) best suited to compliment your figure. Do this, and you're on your way to a more honest, open, and sustainable future. It's only natural.
