what's the best flea and tick solution for my 14 year old large Dog (Lab/ border collie mix)?
Wondering which is the best flea and tick prevention topical liquid or medication for my 14 year old Dog. She will be exposed to lots of fleas and ticks, but not usually the rabies carrying ones. We have successfully used both Advantage and Frontline in the past. We don’t know which really the best one is, or the best value and which works best and longest. We know that we need something strong like that. Also, is there anything that works on Bedbugs or lice? Can Dogs get them? We are temporarily living in a long term hotel until the end of the year, so both of those are a possibility. Unfortunately our experience with "natural," "organic," "powders," "collars" etc. haven't worked in the past, and are not strong enough to handle the inevitable spring infestation. We are well aware of the warnings, safety issues, and scary requirement that we must wear gloves and not get it on our own skin.

Over the many years of showing my dogs, the only topical flea and tick product I've ever used is Biospot. Until recently it was the only one on the market that actually REPELLED fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes rather than killing them after they bit the dog. Biospot is by far less expensive than the others $10.95 for a 3 months supply (all size dogs) and although some say it washes off, I never had that happen, nor have I had a flea, tick, or mosquito on my dogs for many years even though we have deer in the backyard.
By the way, you don't get rabies from fleas nor ticks. You get heartworms, Lyme Disease, rocky mountain spotted fever, and flea allergy dermatitis.
